Prices are the official adult rate on the page that owns the place, in pounds as published with a dollar approximation at £1 = $1.36. Day trips are deliberately absent: Stirling, Rosslyn Chapel, St Andrews, Glasgow, Loch Ness, Glencoe, Skye and Alnwick are tens to hundreds of miles out and would zoom this frame to the whole of Britain — they have their own maps on day trips. Is there a printable or PDF Edinburgh map?

Not from this site — but every pin carries an Open in Google Maps link, and Google Maps downloads the whole Edinburgh area for offline use: open the app, search Edinburgh, tap Download. That beats a PDF because it still knows where you are standing. Paper city maps are handed out free at the VisitScotland iCentre on Princes Street.

How walkable is the area this map covers?

The Old Town and New Town pins sit inside roughly two square kilometres, and most walks between them run 5 to 20 minutes — but Edinburgh is built on a ridge, so the flat distance lies about the effort. The outliers are Leith and the Royal Yacht Britannia (a tram or bus ride down), Edinburgh Zoo in the west, and Arthur's Seat, which is a climb rather than a walk. The fares are on getting around.

Why do some pins show no price?

Black neighbourhood pins are areas, not venues. Food pins show a price only where the venue publishes one — most restaurants publish a MICHELIN price band rather than a figure, and this site never invents one. Camera Obscura shows "not published by the venue" because its rate appears only inside the booking widget after you pick a date, which is exactly what its own page says.

Are the day trips on this map?

No. Stirling Castle, Rosslyn Chapel, St Andrews, Glasgow, Loch Ness, Glencoe, the Isle of Skye and Alnwick Castle are tens to hundreds of miles from the Royal Mile, and putting them on one frame would shrink Edinburgh to a dot. Each has its own page and its own map, indexed on day trips.

How current are the prices on the pins?

Each price is the official adult rate read from the venue's own site on the date printed on that venue's page; the pin repeats it for convenience. Two of them move on 1 September 2026 — The Real Mary King's Close and the Edinburgh Dungeon both come off a temporarily reduced rate — and the pins carry both figures. If a pin and a page ever disagree, the page is the source of truth, and the tickets index is rechecked most often.
